Florida Lieutenant Governor and Surgeon General Join UCF Culinary Medicine Students to Learn Heart Healthy Recipes

UCF College of Medicine students worked alongside Hebni Nutrition Consultants, Inc. to help teach the Central Florida community how to make easy and nutritious, culturally conscious meals. They were joined by special guests, Florida Lt. Governor Jeanette Núñez and Florida Surgeon General Joseph Lapado. The event was organized by the Director of the Florida Department of Health in Orange County, Dr. Robert Karch.

These future physicians, enrolled in the UCF College of Medicine’s Culinary Medicine elective, led by Dr. Sharon Wasserstrom, will be carrying these lessons into their careers to better counsel their patients on how healthier dietary choices can lead to better health.

An Ardmore Institute of Health grant helped to make the Culinary Medicine elective possible.
