AAFP and Ardmore Institute of Health: Advancing Whole Health Through Primary Care
Ardmore Institute of Health (AIH) and the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) share a fundamental belief: primary care physicians are essential to achieving Whole Health.
In this recent Family Practice Management article, AAFP outlines the importance of Whole Health, the challenges physicians face, and the work AAFP is doing, supported by AIH, to make comprehensive, person-centered care possible.
“Whether you call it Whole Health, Lifestyle Medicine, Integrative Medicine, or something else, the concepts represent comprehensive, person-centered care that contributes the most to achieving and maintaining health.”
AIH has proudly supported numerous AAFP resources designed to equip physicians with the knowledge, skills, and tools necessary for patients to achieve Whole Health:

Reimbursement and Coding for Lifestyle Medicine-related Services
Additionally, AIH is delighted to support a Fall 2025 invitation-only convening, hosted by AAFP. This event will bring together physician leaders, federal and state policy leaders, health plan representatives, employers, and patients to shape the national conversation on Whole Health and produce an action brief on how primary care payment and training must change to accomplish the shared aims of family physicians.
Together, AAFP, AIH, and like-minded organizations are on a mission to “revolutionize America's health system by transforming it from one that thrives by identifying and treating illness (in both payment systems and training) to one that focuses on achieving and sustaining health across individuals' lifespan.” And, we remain committed to supporting family physicians in helping their patients achieve physical, behavioral, spiritual, and socioeconomic well-being.
