SWAU (Southwestern Adventist University), with the support of Ardmore Institute of Health and the American College of Lifestyle Medicine has led a series of convenings to advance the field of Lifestyle Nursing.

  • New website (http://lnusa.org/), providing access to committee work going back to 2018;

  • Consensus statement (among national nursing organizations) framing the essential lifestyle nursing (LN) principles. This work is being considered for inclusion in the AACN’s Baccalaureate Essentials which are currently being updated by the AACN Essentials Taskforce. These Essentials are the standard for nursing education across the nation and guide curriculum development; 

  • A manuscript highlighting the process and outcomes of this project thus far. Acceptance and publication are pending; and

  • A ‘poster’ and presentation for use at conferences and speaking engagements.

It will be important to test the curriculum and are planning a Texas pilot where the Texas Nursing Association, ACLM, AACN, AHNA and others, will be invited to jointly develop and test curriculum within several universities across Texas.
